The worlds 25 worst tech products of all time.. according to PC World
May 27th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

I’ve had something fun to read this morning. PC World does little to hide their feelings torwards the following list of poorly performing products and their parent companies. Check it out: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,125772,pg,8,00.asp

3x workout, sortof
May 22nd, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

Today I went a bit over the hill you might say.
I first thought I should do some jogging at the gym before work, so I did. Then after work I thought I should go back to the gym for some more jogging and some bikeriding. So I did. Then I had a little dinner (salad) and thought: Why not go for a little walk, since it’s not raining and all? So I did that too. All in all I’ve been doing some kind of workout or trying to shape up three times today. I guess I’m not going to do that every day for the next month, but it’s a start.
Watch this space for more on the subject of S-A. v.2006.

Lately I’ve been getting questions about this special number I’ve started to include. I’m not telling. Go figure it out yourself. Todays special number is: 13.0.

Good night!

6 months of engagement
May 20th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

So, when you’re engaged you’re planning a wedding. Okey, we are planning a wedding. Last night we had our first ‘real’ romantic relationship-related event after getting engaged I guess.
Jorunn took me to dinner at Big Horn Steak House. It was a very good dinner, and I really enjoyed spending about one to two hours drinking red wine, eating and talking without any cellphones, work or anything important going on. (I think I’ll have to try to do that more offen.)

Thank you for a romantic dinner darling!

Special number: 14.0

Hard work
May 19th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

I haven’t written in a while. But here goes!
This week have been rough. It’s been lots of things to do both at work and all over. I’ve learned that I’ll soon be the rep. responsible for our NTNU-connections at work. I’ve also learned a great deal about people who don’t patch their installments of CMS-systems. If you use some kind of CMS, please patch it. It’s such a mess to clean up after you 🙂

I hope this weekend will be good. I need a good weekend with lots of workout, lots of smiles and perhaps a good movie or two. I’m also looking forward to tonight when me and Jorunn will have a little celebration of six months of engagement.

Hope you all enjoy whatever you’re doing. It’s spring now, I think.

Special number: 15.0

1st of May bikeride
May 1st, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

As it seem to have become a yearly tradition of mine to bikeride to nearby Stjørdal on the 1st of May I’m about to do that this year too. This bikeride kicks of this years bikeride-season. In about 40 days we’ll go to Sweden and do Vätternrundan. Check out Wheelz.biz (Norwegian) for more.

Hack the planet
Mar 31st, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

Hack the planet:
Hack it in any way you can..
don’t be afraid to do it,
or what other people think of you doing it

Hacking something new
may be the greatest thing you’ll ever do..

Use your brain in new ways,
find something new to learn every day.

Don’t cope with the crowd,
stand out and make a point of you being there.

Reach for other people when they need your hand
and make sure you ask for it when you need theirs.

Hack the planet..
and.. make sure to publish your results for us to see.

Feminine, yet macho norwegian females pave their way to rulership
Mar 9th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

First of all: Congratulations, Edina Ringdal! A very consistent and on target delivery 🙂

Tonight the Student Society of Trondheim (Studentersamfundet, Samfundet) got a nut to crack. Leader Mari Raunsgard had called for applicants to take over as the elected leader for the period of May 2006-2007. After first only having one pre-applicant, three brave souls held their neck out and applied for the position. Two males and one female. Sjur and Magnus, the two male applicants delivered as good as they could, but when the female; Edina, was asked to join the panel as an applicant by former Samfundet-leder Gøril Forbord the whole map changed. Sjur went on to pull his application and left the panel, only to return after being asked again to re-join as an applicant. Sjur stated that he’d much rather vote for Edina than himself. With this, and the answers the panel gave during their questioning it was clear that most of the people present had a good feeling about Edina.

The whole election took about 4 hours, including introduction speeches, questions to the panel from the grand hall and of course the formal voting with ID-checks etc. A total of 238 people voted. 154 voted for Edina.

While biking home, I thought about tonight. I had only one pattern left after ten minutes: Female feminine leaders who master being macho and keeping their feminine touch without being labeled "Iron Lady" like Margaret Thatcher. This was also a topic on TV the 8th of March. The broadcast pulled up Siv Jensen of the rightwinged norwegian political party FRP as a primary example of females who master being macho without loosing the female touch. The story went on to put former PM Gro Harlem Brundtland as the "Mother of all" norwegian female leaders in recent history. Her way of leadership, regardless of political direction have been a source of inspiration for, among others, Siv Jensen.

Tonight it became clear to me that Samfundet in many ways replicate this trend with the election tonight. It’s a trend in Norway with female leaders. It’s something that’s coming. At Samfundet it’s been atleast four female leaders in a row now, when Edina picks up the job on the 17th of May. Edina gave feminine answers. She made the grins and smiles that males look for, but she also put on the gentle side that females admire. Her ideas of how to run Samfundet the next year reminded me of the election of Gøril Forbord. It might not be a coincidence that Gøril asked Edina to apply. I believe we’ll see yet another year with many new members and a society in harmony with the city that surrounds it. I don’t know what we’ll get, but I’ll be exciting to watch and work with new people again.

So, what’s next? Male leaders who crossdress to get female votes? Atleast we know that the playmo®-hair recent politicians have had can’t be good for their image as leaders of the world. Walker, if you read this: Change your hairstyle, please 🙂

Thank you, and good night!

Spring, please? | Movies | etc
Mar 5th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

I’d like to have a warm and nice spring right now. I’m tired of -10C and -5C etc. It’s windy, it’s boring and it’s not like it’s getting me any more creative either. Actually I’m becoming fed up with this winter. It’s been too much back and forth, too little real winter and too much ice. When I can’t get to work without thinking about falling over atleast five times, it’s bad (work is at max 2 km from home).

Why can’t this winter end early, like before, when I was young and the first days of April gave us sunshine, green fields and paved roads without ice? It’s our own fault I guess, since we mess up the earths eco-system and have too much sheep going around having it their own way down under. (Did you know that New Zealand have 44 million sheep and only 4 million people?)

Today we finally got off our a**es and went to see ‘March of the penguins‘. I think it’s a bit overrated. It’s just a nature-film. Okay so it’s all cute penguins and we get to see how they live their life, but all in all, it’s just a nature-film like the National Geographic produces all the time. Yet it’s ok to go to a cinema and watch something different for once.
Next time we go to a cinema I hope to see ‘Underworld: Evolution‘, the much awaited follow-up on the saga about the war between the vampires and the werewolves. If you didn’t watch much of the first one, here’s a plot-killer: In the middle stands the vampire Selene played by ever beauitful Kate Beckinsale with the love of her life, the cross-breed vampire and werewolf Michael Corvin played by Scott Speedman. They’re hunted by both sides. Who will ever win? O yes. Please honey, let’s go get the tickets?

Just to sum things up I’m going to work at 0530 tomorrow morning to replace an old Cisco 2950XL with a Cisco 3550 to do some more advanced networking. Yay. Have to sleep now then I guess.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your day/night/life 🙂

Trance Energy 2006
Feb 12th, 2006 by Anders Kringstad

I’m writing this while waiting for my plane back home at Shiphol airport outside Amsterdam: Yesterday I got up early, at about 6 and packed up, took a plane to Oslo, a new plane to Amsterdam and after buying some stuff in Amsterdam I took another train to Utrecht to be at ID&T’s Trance Energy, one of the worlds largest dance events held in the Jaarbeurs Conference-arenas.
This years event was no lesser than the rest. Among the highlights I’d like to single out Above and Beyond and newcomer Perry O’Neil who did a very cool performance. There will be pictures out when I wake up again, and the ‘Armada’-stage was awsome made with a 360 degree cirlce filled with video-projections of old space/cold-war related imagery and videos and ofcourse demos and intros of the DJ’s who played.

There are more to write about the trip, but I’ll have to get back to you on it, I’m a bit tired right now. I’ll come home now Jorunn, please don’t be upset about my sore red all-nighter eyes. 🙂
