Bikecrash
Jun 9th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Well, well, well. It had to happen. It was bound to happen. It probably was just delayed because I had too much time off with computerparties and going to Spain. So I crashed my bike. After putting 15 km’s behind my back I and Christian (saddlark) and Magnus (meheeco) were heading towards Risvollan, across the Tiller bridge (yes thats in the #”!#% outskirts). Down the Tillerbridgeroad I decided to bypass Christian, just before a curve to the left. Bad idea. Around the corner came a Toyota, red-something-something. I avoided the Toyota with a mere strike of luck and headed towards the right side of the road, sliding along in about 30km/t. I was unable to stop due to the high speed and the curve, so instead of hitting the fence along the road, I decided to lay down my bike. The world came tumbling into my face at an incredible speed. Luckily I were wearing a joggingoutfit, complete with jacket and a cap. The bikeglowes probably saved my hands. The stones on the asphalt was hard, and I got a nice little cut on my left forearm, along with some minor ones. You can see it all over in the gallery. I guess I should be happy for living, and without permanent damage.

In other news, there will be a huuuuge party on the 27th of June.. you better be there if you like Trance/Dance/House-music.. It’s called CW16, and yes, it’s a Club-Wonderland concept. I am so looking forward to dance some again!

But now, its allmost 12 pm, and I need my rest before work. Ttyl kids. Enjoy whatever you are up to.

Something written, Gentoo.no, TLUG
Jun 8th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

I have started some new ramblings. This time I decided that I would write alot about topics that I may have something to write about. Thus, I created the page ‘Something Written’ wich you will find as a link on most of the pages by now. The idea is that there I will post anything I feel I may want to bother the world with.

Today was in the sign of Linux. I got around and vamped up a startup beta-page for gentoo.no at the webserver, and even added some news-items. Since I was well underway I also took the time to send some emails on behalf of TLUG to other LUG’s around the country to maybe get some colaboration under way. It’s too bad that so many people duplicate each others work all the time. Norways LUG’s needs to be gathered again. Maybe TLUG can take the lead on this and create a conference for OpenSoruce or Linux-LUG’s in Trondheim. I may see such a happening coming during Winter 2005. Do you?

On a sidenote; I still weigh 85 kg’s on my 5th day now. Thats pretty good for me. That means two things – I now can look forward towards 84, and I can go over to slim-akai.biz and post the good news in the guestbook. Tomorrow I will climb the hills of Byåsen together with Christian (saddlark), that will be good. Now it’s time for rest. ttyl.

D-day, a little walk, IRC, Alcohol
Jun 7th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Saturday went down with the flag firmly attached to the top. Some people gathered at casa nerdehaven and had some bbq and drinks before proceeding to Kings Cross where we got more drunk. I can’t say I remember the whole evening, but the fragments remain. Burbon have that effect on my brain. I forget the chitchatter and remember the hard stuff.

Sunday the 6th of June will forever be the D-Day. Both TV2 and NRK had pulled their arms up to make a real tribute this year. With the 60th year aniversay it was about time the germans was invited too. In fact, more than 250 000 german soldiers lost their lives during the battle for Normandie, and out of those, I have hard to belive too many were nazis. The movie ‘Saving private Ryan’ rounded the evening off at NRK1.

Sunday was great in many ways. I woke up early, no hangover as usual, IRC’ed until noon, had two pieces of toast and IRC’ed until I met up with my brother to go eat dinner with my dad and stephmom. That was nice. My brother told us all that he’s doing a special task during todays anti-terror Battle-game in Trondheim. The troopers he normaly lead into battle have been asigned as the terrorists, while my brother (somewhat upset because he could not be with the gang for the fun) have been asigned to be a VIP guard and host during the fictional peace-confrence. The dinner was good too.

After dinner I took a long walk, walked for about 1,5 hours and popped by PVV to check email. Said hi to Stig.

Now it’s a new week, and following up on last weeks bikeride bonanza I will go for a ride today too. I just need to plan where to go, and when.. But first: four more hours of work. TTYL.

..At the end of all things(tm)
Jun 4th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Watched LOTR:ROTK on DVD with Lars (N) yesterday. Very good still. Very very good. We also had taco. Fresh Fajitas with all the nice things you put in them taste really incredible. You may be tempted to eat too much, like I did, so, I am still at 86, even tho I wanted to be 85 by now. I guess it’ll be soon, since I keep on beating the crap out of my own body with all the walking, biking and running. Oh, I’ve finally found a use for my runningshoes – jogging.

Today, on friday the 4th of june 2004 something special will happen in Trondheim. A bunch of kids/teenagers and enthusiasts will team up to form TDLO – Trondheim Dataparty & LAN Organisasjon (Trondheim Computerparty and LAN Organisation). The goal is to together build a strong force of the minor parties that struggle with the hordes of employees from both the city and the Internet-providers every time there is a party going on. A dedicated resource-pool you may call it. We’re going to be big, bad and mean.. or maybe not. Time will show.

Also, I may have to decide if or if not to get a bit drunk during the weekend. There have been broadly announced that everyone and their duck are to show up at Kings Cross tomorrow night for a little beerbash, or whatever. If you don’t show yourself, be sure to tell everyone that it’s going to be a blast 😛

Oh by the way, If you have any sugestions for things I may put on my pages, please come with them. I am trully bored.

Bikeride, flat tire, ++
Jun 3rd, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Yesterday I was to take my bike for a swing with Magnus (meheeco) from the city center up to Campus Dragvoll and down to Lade, pitching of about 1,5 hours of bikeriding. I thought.

The backtire of my bike suddenly went flat, just as we were hitting the top of the hill towards Lohove, next to Dragvoll. After trying for a while to locate a friendly resident to let us borrow a pump to check the tire if it just needed some air we started calling. I first called my aunt and uncle, because they live near by.. no luck, they did not have repairtools. Then I thought about Christian (saddlark). Luckily for me he moved across town to Chalottenlund just some months ago. Christian was ready to help! Within 20 minutes he was on site and drove us to a nearby bikeshop to get the repairtools and a pump. Back at the busstop with the bikes Magnus documented the whole thing (found in the gallery in the misc section) with the camera while I fixed the tire. After 10 minutes we were back on the road! The rest of the ride went without much interupts.

After work today I’ll met up with Lars (N`grath) to make some dinner and watch LOTR:ROTK on DVD.. I guess the evening is set you may say, as the movie with the extra material will take about 7-8 hours to watch.. Wish me luck 😛

Also today.. Stein Magnus (jodal) leaves town going south for the summer. That leaves me with quite a few friends down south for the summer. Jens Ådne left last week, Stein Magnus today, Frode (slappfisk) also leave soon, and Tollef (Mithrandi/tfheen) is in Brazil. I guess I’ll have to stick with the 20+ others then 😛 You all know that this summer will be magical. The weather is nice, we got lots of bbq’s to do, lots of places to go and things to explore. Got to work some now, before dinner.. ttyl 🙂

Cutting edge
Jun 1st, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

At work today I had the pleasure of visiting the serverroom. In the lower part of the rack to the left was our new baby, a IBM BladeCenter. The BladeCenter comprise of a 8U tall rackmountable box with space for up to 12 blades. Each blade can hold 2 3.2 Ghz Xeon CPU’s and some ram, disk etc. Ofcourse I have to take some pictures of this later on. But for now: it’s Inhouse, and in the working of setup. The Blades will do various tasks, mainly windows-based, but I’ve been promesed to be allowed to set up Linux on atleast one blade, to test performance and functionality. There will also be a new SAN for the BladeCenter soon I hear.

After work today I’ll follow up on my goal to either bike or go to the gym every day and go to 3T to do some workout. I have yet not decided if to go to the near-by gym in the city center or to the brand new gym at the pier. I still have 3,5 hours to decide..

For dinner today I’m thinking Wok. Wokmix with some sliced meat, jasminrice and strong, good chili sauce. Along with dinner there’ll also be a chance for me to watch LOTR:ROTK again.. woha. The DVD still rocks 😀

..to whatever end
May 31st, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

The past days have been very very good. Firstly, there was VikaLAN 2004, the computerparty. Then there was some really needed sleep. Today I decided to go bikeriding, and so I did..

From my house, through the ntnu campus of Gloeshaugen over to my grandfather and grandmother to say hello and give them some of the things I bought in Spain. Then after ten minutes of chitchat I took of up to Moholt, over to Lohove, down to Risvollan. From Risvollan I headed south to Bratsberg where I hit the Tiller bridge, and took it across the river. From there on, it was uphill to Tiller, over to Heimdal, up to Saupstad.. further on up past Granaasen until I finally could put my feet down on the ground when I came to Ugla, and my mom and stephdads house. There my mom offered me some salad, wich I accepted and I joined my brother to go get the food from a local pizza takeaway. After eating I gave my mom the olive oil I had with me from Spain before I left again with my bake and rode down the road across Sverresborg down to my house.

After some needed relaxing on the couch, I IRC’ed some, had two pieces of fajita with salad in them and watched some of the extra material for Lord Of The Rings, Return Of The King.. That is for sure going to be heavy rotation around this house for the next days.. 🙂

Now it’s soon June, and I am looking forward to June. June will be a good month. Lots of work, lots of nice people to met, lots of places to go, things to do. May 2004 have been good to me. It’s now been two years and 16 days since I came back to Trondheim, and how I love it. Thank you all, who have been with me for the past two years. I wish it will be many years to come. Goodnight 🙂

The anatomy of a corenet
May 28th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Since I discovered that I could import Cisco diagram shapes into Dia I decided that this time was the time I did a network diagram the proper way. So upfront of going to Malvik to prepare for VikaLAN yesterday I made thisdrawing. I don’t know about you, but to me Dia is really looking better for every relase. I have tried the program from time to time over the years, but just a few months ago I was not able to do what I now do.

Attending VikaLAN is also a bunch of friends, so I am really looking forward to it. These friends include, but are not limited to: falxx, andai, cruz, tds, Madsey, ph, duk, pulz, icemanx og caird. Tds is actually coming up from Oslo to join us, if he can recover from his hangover in time 😛 Anyways, It’ll be cool!

Over at The Register, the el. reg. gang have gotten their hands on a story that’s been plastered all over the web this morning. “The Buffalo Spammer” have been jailed for a minimum of 3.5 years in prison after the city of NY and the ISP Earthlink got him convicted.. woha 😀

But now I really got to do some more work.

Here we go again..
May 27th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Today, (not Todai as someone may think, anyone got the joke?) I will be attending the setup of yet another computerparty. This time its a little out of town, to the north in Malvik. The hall has room for more than 400 people, and I am, together with Geir (pulz) scheduled to do the networking and serverfarm-administrative jobs. We pulled together a bunch of ideas yesterday from people like Arnvid, Roy and Svein on how this may be done.. and thus I present my ideas to you:

Four of the five DSL lines are set up on Cisco 827 DSL-routers with an OSPF-area and a equal cost. The fifth router is reserved for traffic from NOC and crew. By rising the cost of this router the OSPF will put the load on the other four before affecting the crews network. The OSPF-area puts its data on to the network, where a Cisco 4500 router pics it up and does the main job of acting as default gateway for the entire network. Tied to this router is also a Squid proxy that will allow for even smoother downloads as it gets populated by webpages and content. Ports of unwanted services will be blocked with ACLs on the 4500 router along with ACLs to allow NOC to telnet etc.

And if anyone bothered, I’m trying to learn Cisco IOS 🙂

Elsewere in my head the summer is aproaching at speed. TLUG had a little, unformal gathering at Choco Boco Bakklandet on Tuesday, only four people showed up, but thats ok. We decided to go forward with ideas to visit places that use Linux in their daily work, and are looking for companies and schools who do that. If you have an idea, contact me 🙂

Also, my good friend mr Dj Xtendency have finally gotten to it, and put up his own webpage.. If you like chilled, hardcore and hardtrance, please check out xtendency.soundstation.net.

Thats all for now folks.. oh no, right.. Check out the gallery, I’ve added some new images to both YWL and some others. Also, over at tlf.cx there is some new images of people from IRC (jodal, saddlark, smygarn,Knuta, kalve) in the people-gallery. TTYL, gotta work 🙂

Troy,AuLAN, VikaLAN, Work
May 25th, 2004 by Anders Kringstad

Hectic period right now, and hence little time to post weblogs, but that’s allright, nobody reads them anyways 😛

On Sunday I went to the cinemas with Lars (N`Grath) and we watched ‘Troy’. Very nice movie. I think I’ll watch it again as it goes on DVD. Speaking of.. today the LOTR:ROTK DVD is due for the stores.. Are you set?

Today brings yet another TLUG meeting, and since Stein Magnus (jodal) got the amazing idea of TLUG going to visit some corporations etc who uses Linux in their daily work I’m really looking forward to what ideas the crazy gang may deliver. We’re hooking up at Choco Boco Bakklandet in Trondheim at 1800 CET if you like to join 🙂

The weekend went really fast. AuLAN III was a blast, and tho we had a little few attendees it was quite nice. Lots of happy faces, lots of music, humming computers and halfburned Grandiosa pizza :p

On Thursday its off again, this time to VikaLAN, a little north of Trondheim. We’re expecting up to 400 people to come and play with computers at this computerparty. The crew includes a lot of friendly known people, and I’m really looking forward to it. Want to join? Check out www.vikalan.com.

Meanwhile, at work, we’re having yet another milestone put down today as we got our first lady onboard. She’s partly working for us, and partly for our ads bureau. We also got some quite nice words from one of the board members of one of our largest customers upon our release of their new Intranet. Things are just fine now

Now.. if only the rain would stop?
